The Golden State Warriors are dealing with consistency issues as they head down the stretch of the 2022-2023 season, barely in the playoff picture. The injuries and multiple lineups needed to be adjusted by head coach Steve Kerr haven’t turned things around in recent games.
The Warriors were defeated on Tuesday by the Oklahoma City Thunder 137-128, giving up 40 points to the home team in the first quarter. The team battled back throughout the game but could never overcome the deficit set by the Thunder leading to immediate concerns from Kerr on the team’s slow starts.
“If I knew I would, I would obviously tell the team, you know what was happening. But the slow starts have been really consistent. We changed the starting lineup tonight. Didn’t make any difference; we still fell way behind right away. And it’s tough swimming upstream the rest of the game.” Kerr told reporters. “So I thought our guys did a great job of getting back in the game. You know, we made it a four-point game at the half. Like we went up for mid-third, but all the fouling led to all those free throws, and it’s tough to play when you’re taking the ball out of the net.”

Kerr shuffled the starting lineup to alleviate the slow start, but it backfired with a poor defensive showing. He didn’t hold back his thoughts on the result but refocused on the next game.
“Very frustrating, but, you know, we just got to keep going, said Kerr. Well, we’ll watch the tape and move on to Memphis and see what we can do Thursday night.”
The Warriors will match up against a Memphis Grizzles team struggling without Ja Morant in need of a big win.
