Golden State Warriors point guard Chris Paul is expected to miss four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his fractured left hand, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Paul suffered the injury on Friday against the Detroit Pistons in what appeared to be a collision with point guard Jaden Ivey. After Paul missed a three-pointer in the third quarter, Ivey grabbed the rebound and quickly made contact with Paul’s left hand in transition. He immediately grabbed it and finished the game with eight points in 24 minutes of action.
In his first year with the Warriors, the 12-time All Star is averaging 8.9 points, 7.2 assists and 3.8 rebounds.

In his 19 NBA seasons, Paul has had five surgeries to his left hand and six to his right. As a result of his absence, rookie guard Brandin Podziemski is expected to play a bigger role in the team’s rotation, per the report.
Golden State is currently sitting at the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference with a 17–18 mark.
