Passengers whose flights were cancelled during the coronavirus pandemic are being urged to redeem their travel vouchers before they expire. Millions of pounds of vouchers are yet to be claimed by holidaymakers with airlines including easyJet and British Airways.
According to its most recent figures released in November, easyJet has around £110m in unclaimed vouchers. Although the airline has confirmed that this number will have reduced since then.
International Airlines Group, the parent company of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Level and Vueling confirmed that it had €652m (around £579m) in unclaimed vouchers. The figure represents both vouchers issued for cancelled flights and for customers who had the option of receiving a voucher or making a rebooking.
According to the BA website, vouchers are valid for travel until 30 September 2023.

easyJet has warned passengers to make sure they’ve claimed their voucher before it's too late. A spokesman for the airline said: “With flights on sale up to the end of November 2023, any customers who have flight vouchers including those who have had them extended still have plenty of opportunity to rebook a trip and we always encourage customers to book early to get the best fares and the most value from their vouchers.
“We have continually written to customers to inform them of the extensions and to remind them to use them so we would urge all customers with vouchers to redeem their vouchers by the deadline.”
