Motorists have been issued a parking warning ahead of next Monday's bank holiday following the historic Coronation of King Charles III.
With some using the extra day off to visit family and others participating in Big Help Out charity events, roads may be busier than usual. However, experts have warned over a common mistake which motorists should be careful to avoid if they're struggling to find parking.
As reported by Wales Online, drivers should not assume restrictions on parking don't apply on a bank holiday - as they often do, and so motorists could risk fines.
Eben Lovatt, CEO of the car leasing comparison site Moneyshake said: "Rules may vary from place to place so if you are going anywhere on a bank holiday, check the council's website before you go.
"It's safer to treat the bank holiday as a normal day unless signs are telling you the rules are different."
If the signs state that the parking restrictions apply Monday to Saturday, for example, these will still be in place if it's a bank holiday unless signs specifically exclude this.
This is the same for both single and double yellow lines. If caught, the local council can issue you a Penalty Charge Notice which can cost the motorist anywhere between £50 and £80, say the experts.
The warning comes as a separate alert has been raised by the RAC over 'unfair' fines for using yellow box junctions. The UK Government changed the law to allow councils outside of London and Cardiff to issue fines for traffic offences.
The RAC explained: "The purpose of yellow boxes is to prevent the blocking of cross or through traffic. If a box or part of a box does not protect a cross movement, it serves no purpose and any fine issued there is unnecessary."
