A warning has been issued to Tesco customers who collect Clubcard points as some of their vouchers are set to expire this month.
Money saving expert Martin Lewis explained Tesco Clubcard owners who were issued vouchers in November 2020 will expire in just seven days.
He reminded people of this deadline during his ITV Martin Lewis Money Show Live on Tuesday, saying: "Check whether you’ve got [vouchers to use] at Tesco.com/Clubcard or via the app."
Tesco Clubcard vouchers are issued three times a year in Ireland and these are normally then valid for two years.
On their website, Tesco Ireland writes: "Your vouchers are valid for 2 years. Once they’ve expired, you won’t be able to use them, so make sure you don't forget about them."
This means that any vouchers issued in November 2020 will expire on November 30, 2022.
Shoppers can also use their vouchers to bring down the cost of their grocery shop or convert them
You need a minimum of 150 points to get a Clubcard voucher, which will be worth €1.50 to spend in Tesco.
Meanwhile, Tesco customers will start receiving their Christmas vouchers this week starting November 21.
Earlier this year, some savvy Tesco shoppers opted in to save all of their vouchers for Christmas spending.
A Tesco Ireland spokesperson said: “Shoppers can then use their Clubcard Christmas Savers balance to spend on groceries, fuel and presents, such as toys in-store or with Clubcard Rewards partners to give the gift of family days out, hotel stays or entertainment."
How do I get Clubcard points?
You build up Clubcard points every time you spend money in Tesco stores or online on the Tesco website.
For every €1 you spend on everyday grocery items, you’ll get one point added to your Clubcard balance.
If you fill up at a Tesco Certa Fuel pump, every €2 you spend is worth one point. Tesco shoppers can also collect points through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile as well.
Customers can check their Clubcard Voucher balance and expiry dates through the Tesco website or app.
Once you are logged in, click on “my Clubcard account” and then “vouchers” and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend.
