Warning issued to any Virgin Media broadband, phone, TV customer

Thousands of Virgin Media customers are set to face huge bill increases after the company announced its second round of increased costs.

Virgin Media customers will be hit with an average price of £56 per year on their broadband, TV and phone packages.

The company said the increase is due to increased costs and a rise in customers year on year, meaning further investment is needed in their network and services.

A spokesperson said: "While we recognise a price change is never welcome, with rising costs and our customers using their services more than ever, we are reviewing our pricing to fuel further investment in our network and services, both now and in the future.

“We’re committed to providing brilliant services and excellent overall value, and consistently give our customers more for their money than anyone else.”

It's the second time within two years that Virgin Media has risen prices for its customers, and an industry expert has warned that time is running out to beat the price increase and save on household bills.

There's good news though for those who have a Virgin Media contract and wish to save on the average £4.30 per month price increase.

You can cancel your contract if you are not happy with the price rise.

Customers can also contact Virgin Media to renegotiate their contract with a deadline of February- 15 to contact them and switch without any cost. Get in touch here.

Those who are renegotiating their contract may want to take advantage of deals with competitors.

For example, Sky has made its Q box available for its cheapest ever price at £31 per month but there are some catches.

It includes access to 200 plus free-to-air channels and a Superfast Broadband of 59mbp/s but it does not include setup costs and does not include every Sky channel.

The package includes:

  • 200+ free-to-air channels, apps, plus the facility to record
  • Superfast Broadband with average speeds of 59Mb/s
  • Sky Pay As You Talk - where customers only pay for the calls they make

Meanwhile, BT is giving away access to Netflix for six months as part if its TV and broadband January sale deal.
