A barbecue dumped near a bin in a Cardiff park reignited and set fire to bags of rubbish around it. Cardiff Council has warned people to bin their rubbish properly after the mini fire in Bute Park.
Posting the warning on Twitter on Saturday, the council said: "If you’re thinking of having a BBQ in Cardiff’s parks, please think again. BBQs pose a danger to children and animals once discarded. And if they’re not disposed of correctly, this can happen..."
The picture shows bags of rubbish alight next to the bin in Bute Park. It comes after the capital and most of Wales has enjoyed weeks of warm and sunny weather.
The council added: "If you’re out and about in Cardiff’s parks this weekend please help us keep them as litter-free as possible by using the bins provided, or if they’re full, taking your waste home to dispose of responsibly."
