Beachgoers were left stunned after multiple hand grenades washed up on a beach in Oregon.
A bomb squad was sent out immediately following the alarming discovery.
On Tuesday last week (4th October) the Newport police department were contacted regarding a report of multiple hand grenades found on the shore between Yaquina Bay State Park and Agate beach.
Three separate explosives were found by the officers in a white device which was labelled “Warning: Explosive.”
Each grenade featured instructions for its usage, and were identified as "Simulator Hand Grenade M1116A."
The department said, "Newport police responded to three separate devices that appeared to have washed ashore.
"The Oregon State Police Bomb Squad responded and seized the devices.
"These devices are white in colour and have a label attached to them that reads “Warning Explosive”.
"The label clearly states the item is a Simulator Hand Grenade M116A. If you encounter such a device, please do not handle or attempt to move it.
"Call the police to report the device's location."
Police managed to seize the discovered explosives but warned the public not to "handle or attempt to move" any devices should more arise.
No more information has been shared yet regarding the origin of the grenades or any criminal intent.
