A warning has been issued to one part of Merseyside as "traders" were reported to have been imitating council workers.
Sefton Council issued the warning last week after they received reports of traders demanding cash for work done on roofs in an area where grant-funded green homes improvements are currently underway. The council took to social media to warn those who may be targeted by scammers.
The Sefton Council Facebook page posted: "Important reminder. We're getting reports of traders going claiming to be working with Sefton Council and demanding cash for roofing ‘work’ they claim to have carried out.

"Sefton Council DOES NOT work with traders who call door-to-door or demand cash payment."
Following the warning, the council has now issued guidance on how to tell whether someone works for the council or not. People living in the borough are reminded that the council does not work with traders who call door-to-door or demand cash payments.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “We received a report of traders claiming to be working with us and demanding cash for roofing ‘work’ they claim to have carried out, in an area where genuine grant-funded green homes improvements are currently being carried out on Sefton Council’s behalf.
“We would remind residents that Sefton Council does not work with traders who call door-to-door or demand cash payments and that they should always ask to see ID from anyone claiming to be calling on our behalf.”
