Police officers issued several fixed penalty tickets outside of capital primary school on Tuesday afternoon.
They were outside Stenhouse primary school in Edinburgh as part of their ‘Child Road Safety Campaign.’
Several drivers were issued with fixed penalty tickets for seatbelt offences and lighting offences connected to their vehicles.
Officers were carrying out road checks to ensure the safety of children attending school and to ensure that drivers were following the law outside of educational buildings.

On a post on Twitter, Road Policing Scotland tweeted: “Yesterday #EdinburghRP carried out a road check at Stenhouse Primary School for the Child Road Safety Campaign, issuing fixed penalty tickets for seatbelt offences and warnings for lighting offences #SafeStreetsSafeChildren #BeltUp #Fatal5”
Police Scotland advice for those travelling with children is detailed on their website.
With the force stating that for car journeys children under the age of 14 need to be properly restrained.
They add that it is important to have the correct child seats and restraints in your vehicle.
It is also of paramount importance that younger children be placed in a child car seat when travelling.
