Warmest places in Ireland as Met Eireann forecast extreme bank holiday weather divide

Met Éireann has revealed the hottest location in the country, with 10C in difference between the warmest and the coldest.

The Irish Meteorological Service has collected data from weather stations all across the country, with Shannon Airport in County Clare registering the hottest temperature this Friday of 25.3C, which is also the highest air temperature recorded this year.

The top five locations were all in the west of Ireland thanks to the cool easterly breeze keeping temperatures a little lighter on the east coast. Second and third place are Mount Dillon in Roscommon and Mace Head in Galway, respectively, each with 24C.

Johnstown Castle in Wexford ranked as the coldest station observed at 15.3C, followed by Malin Head in Donegal (15.4C), Casement Aerodrome (15.8C) and Dublin Airport (15.9C).

For Saturday, Met Éireann has said: "Another dry, warm day with plenty of sunshine. A little cloud will bubble up at times, through the afternoon. Highest temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees generally, coolest in the east and warmest in the west, all in a light to moderate easterly breeze."
