Tucked away within one of the jewel's of Nottingham's crown at Games Workshop's Warhammer World in Lenton is a venue which is well deserving of some praise. Our reviewer visited Bugman's Bar recently and had to agree with the majority of reviewers who rate it as excellent on TripAdvisor.
Bugman’s is Warhammer World’s dedicated bar and restaurant. The venue itself is styled as a Medieval themed tavern with references to the different Warhammer Worlds. It's described on the Warhammer World website as the "perfect place to seek refuge between your battles" or being "great for friends and family looking to somewhere to relax while visiting with a Warhammer-loving pal".
Within the venue is a large number of wooden tables and chairs, as well as armchairs which are almost like thrones. The venue itself is very spacious. It's a venue where you have an opportunity for a well deserved break after a session playing Warhammer or painting figures in the main hall. But as the company itself outlines above, you could just be visiting someone or waiting for them while they partake in activities. It's obviously a little off the beaten track in Willow Road, Lenton, so we're not sure you would visit unless you were going to explore Warhammer World.
This hugely successful local company continues to go from strength to strength, counting many well-know celebrities among its fanbase. Superman actor Henry Cavill recently paid a visit. There's a real theme there, the Warhammer theme continues into the interesting and uniquely styled restaurant and bar. It adds to the overall experience of the venue.
We felt the prices were pretty reasonable - cheaper than average. specially considering the current climate All the usual pub favourites are on the menu; from burgers and chips to all day breakfasts. Punters can also get a selection of hot drinks and cakes.
A word should also be said about the toilets. They are very clean, modern and spacious. And we must also mention the staff, who all clearly love their jobs and are only too keen to help. They all seem to have a genuine passion for the brand.
It might seem daunting to some who are not already established fans of Warhammer but we found it easy enough to visit. There's a shop on the ground floor and impressive displays in huge glass cabinets. There are more shops and displays in the main hall.
Our reviewer went in the week and didn't need to book a table for our Warhammer session. But you may need to book a table at busier time. Bugman’s, which is named in honour of legendary brew-master, Josef Bugman, is open from 10am until 6pm Sunday to Friday and 10am until 8pm on Sundays.
