The Ogryn in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a living tank on two legs, a raging behemoth with an overabundance of muscle and a sense for destruction. However, the best Ogryn build in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide isn’t focused solely on destroying the enemy, but includes all sorts of useful tricks to protect yourself and your team from the hordes of Nurgle.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Ogryn best feats
Each class gains access to a new trifecta of feats at levels 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30. You may freely select one talent from each – a selection that is not permanent and can be changed at any time. For the Ogryn, the following feats are recommended:
- Level 5 – (2) Smash ‘Em Good: Toughness regenerates by 20 percent on heavy blows against enemies.
- Level 10 – (3) Blood & Thunder: Each heavy blow causes a stack of the bleed effect.
- Level 15 – (3) Bullfighter: Bull Rush cooldown is reduced by ten percent when an elite enemy falls nearby.
- Level 20 – (1) Bloodthirst: Damage resistance increases by ten percent for each enemy in melee range that suffers from bleeding; effect stacks five times.
- Level 25 – (3) Raging Bull: For each enemy you hit with the first melee attack, the next strike does five percent more damage.
- Level 30 – (1) Bull Gore: Bull Rush inflicts two additional bleeds on each hit.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Ogryn playstyle
While the Ogryn can do a lot of damage, it’s not necessarily made for a DPS role: due to its size, it makes an attractive target for enemies and thus quickly becomes overmatched in ranged combat.
The build described above will instead help you build up extra damage resistance in melee combat, keeping you alive for a long time. Your goal is to create the necessary space for your ranged-focused allies by drawing hordes of melee enemies towards you and throwing their ranks into chaos with your class ability, Bull Rush.
Build up resistance by inflicting bleed stacks on enemies and staying close to your allies. It’s tempting to rush at ranged enemies and leave your team behind, but be careful: even lowly Scab Shooters can quickly stagger you, slowing your rush – when you’re caught in the crossfire without any cover, even your generous pool of health rapidly melts away.
Focus on heavy attacks above all else: These not only do more damage against individual targets like elites, but also have an area effect due to the Ogryn’s enormous size, making them perfect to deal with Poxwalkers coming at you.

The best weapon combination for the Ogryn in close combat is a Battle Maul and a Slab Shield: the shield lets you clear enemies en masse and serves as mobile cover, while the mace flattens hordes of enemies in no time.
When it comes to ranged weapons, it mainly depends on your personal taste. A Ripper Gun is excellent at destroying hordes if you get overrun in melee, but a Heavy Stubber – especially in its twin variant – is no slouch either. What makes a tank even better? That’s right: even more tankiness. With your Curios, you should focus on increasing your toughness further to fulfill your role most effectively. If you can find items that interact with the bleed effect, they are equally attractive – after all, the effect plays a very large role in the best Ogryn build and allows you to reach your full potential.
Your Ogryn may have less brains than its teammates, but you can combine your own cleverness with the creature’s overwhelming strength to create an insurmountable bulwark against the hordes of Nurgle.
