Early this week, the Cross Platform Save functionality for Warframe went live. This meant that players no longer needed to worry on their progression with respect to the platform they're using. Today we're going to help guide you on how to activate this.
Cross Platform Play
Before that, let's understand first what Cross Platform Play offers. For starters, you'll be able to take on Missions regardless of what platform you're using. You can be part of fellow Tenno's Squad or go with Public Matchmaking. It also makes it possible to use the Chat and communicate with other players. You can also meet players in Relays and even visit Dojos.
To activate, all you need to do is simply toggle the "Cross Platform Play" setting that's in the Options Menu. If Cross Platform Play is active, you should that the platform icon is next to your name.
Cross Platform Save
Cross Platform Save meanwhile is the functionality where players get to use their Warframe account Progression and Items from a single Cross Platform Save Account across different gaming platforms. By Progression we mean things like Quests, Syndicate ranks, Focus, Intrinsics, Helminth unlocks. It also includes currently active Kuva Liches or Sisters of Parvos.
Once you've enabled Cross Platform Save, you can choose whether to Link or Merge.
Linking Accounts
Linking is where you choose one Warframe account and set it as the Primary Account. Any progress or purchase made on this account can then be used anytime on multiple different platforms.
Let's say you decide to have your PC account as the Primary Account. If you then Link it to the PlayStation account, any progress made on the PC permanently overrides what's on the PlayStation account. What this means is that the Warframe Cross Platform Save account can be used not only on the PC but also the PlayStation.
It's important to remember that account linking is permanent. Once this is done, you wont' be able to access any of the progress or inventory of the Linked accounts.
Merging
You can also choose the One-Time Account Merge and combine Items, Resources, Currencies, and Customizations, that are in multiple accounts to a single account. This method is irreversible. The newly connected accounts serve as a single and unified Warframe Cross Platform Save Account that's available to use on any platform you choose to connect with Account Management.
To get an idea of how it works, let's say you have 100,000 Credits on an Xbox account and another 100,000 Credits on a PC account. Once you do the One-Time Account Merge, you should have a new and unified account which has 200,000 Credits that can be used either on Xbox or PC.
Link or Merge
So which action would you choose? It really depends on you. If you've been playing a similar playstyle regardless of the platform, then Linking would be a better option. However, if you're trying our different things across different platforms, then Merging is a good choice.
Warframe is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
