The Western Front has opened in War Thunder and everyone is invited to take part in the Ground Battles. Get ready for the Operation Overlord event which begins June 5 and runs until June 17. The top prize in this event is the Churchill AVRE. This legendary armored vehicle was integral to the Armored Vehicle Royal Engineers. It was first used during the Normandy Landings on D-Day.
The was designed to be used against fortifications, especially with its 230 mm Spigot Mortar. It releases a huge projectile called the "Flying Dustbin" which weighs 18 kg. In addition to this vehicle, players can also earn a chest during the event which can contain any one of these items:
- 50,000 to 100,000 Silver Lions
- Silver Lion and Research Point boosters
- Random Wagers and Orders
- Universal Backups (1 - 3)
- A random camouflage for a vehicle you own
- 1 day of Premium Account
Getting the Rewards
The event has different stages where players can earn 35,000 mission points. It goes without saying that with each stage opened, there are new rewards available. It's important to remember that once a stage is finished, players need to collect the reward manually.
Mission points can be earned in Ground Battles in Arcade, Realistic and Simulator Battles. However, players need to have vehicles that are at least Rank III. The number of mission points needed to complete a stage depends on the game mode and at the same time the maximum Rank of the vehicle used in battle. There's also a multiplier when it comes to earning mission points and this is shown in the task description in-game.
Players can also earn mission points by using event vehicles that are Rank I and II. The name of the event vehicles that can be used are the same as that of the event that they were obtainable in on their stat card.
Rewards are given every time players complete a specific number of stages. These are:
- For 1 Stage: trophy with a random reward
- For 2 Stages: one of the decal rewards
- For 3 Stages: trophy with a random reward
- For 4 Stages: one of the decal rewards
- For 5 Stages: "Flying Dustbin" decoration
- For 6 Stages: non-tradable coupon for Churchill AVRE
