Wanted man caught hiding in boot after about two weeks on the run

A wanted man is now behind bars after police allegedly discovered him hiding in the boot of a car.

Nicholas Josef Peter was arrested on Monday night, almost two weeks after police issued a call for the public's assistance in finding him.

About 8pm on Monday, officers stopped a silver Honda City sedan on Kingsford Smith Drive in Florey.

They are said to have soon found Peter, 27, hiding in the boot of the Honda, and arrested him.

Peter faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Tuesday, when he did not apply for bail.

He was charged with one count of possessing a prohibited weapon, namely, knuckle dusters.

The 27-year-old is yet to enter a plea.

Police previously said Peter was wanted for multiple serious driving offences including failing to stop for police, and warned he may be in possession of a firearm.

He had been seen driving a black Audi SUV (last seen with ACT registration plates YND36V) or a blue motorbike.

On Monday, the court heard he was on parole at the time and had been ordered to complete another 20 days in jail.

He is set to face court again later this month.
