We are just weeks away from the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, and I am already shaking in my boots with excitement!
This year, the Eurovision Song Contest is coming to us from Switzerland after Nemo claimed the 2024 title with their track “The Code”.
Although it may be a bit of an early wake-up for us Aussies, there’s nothing like the glitz, glamour and camp vibes that Eurovision embodies. And to me, that’s worth waking up early for.
So, if you’re a creative cat who loves nothing more than watching a bunch of countries battle it out in song and dance, then keep reading because we have all the information you need to tune into Eurovision 2025 in Australia.
When is Eurovision?
The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest kicks off with the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 13 (CEST) from the wonderful land of Basel, Switzerland.
However, for the Aussies keen on watching live, this will be Wednesday, May 14 at 5:00am (AEST). The second semi-final will be on Friday, May 16, at 5:00am (AEST), followed by the grand final on Sunday, May 18, at 5:00am (AEST).
The grand final will be a pretty big affair with 26 wonderful countries performing, so make sure to get some snacks and get comfortable for a fun-filled time.
How can I watch Eurovision in Australia?
Thankfully, you don’t need to worry about tracking down a link on Reddit. The good people at SBS and SBS On Demand will be broadcasting the festivities both live and at a sleep-in-friendly time, too.
While you can catch the drama live at 5:00am, SBS will also be broadcasting an exclusive Access All Areas prime-time coverage from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 at 7:30pm AEST. The SBS coverage will be hosted by beloved Australian media personalities Tony Armstrong and Courtney Act.

While Courtney is a Eurovision expert, Tony is admittedly a bit newer to the magic, creating a hilarious and educational dynamic duo that I can’t wait to see play out on screen.
Who is representing Australia this year?
I’m feeling good about our chances this year, folks, and it’s all thanks to the one and only Go-Jo.
Go-Jo, otherwise known by his given name Marty Zambotto, is a 29-year-old pop musician from Perth, WA. He exploded onto the music scene with his viral track “Mrs. Hollywood” in 2023 and now is coming to the worldwide Eurovision circuit with his campy, soon-to-be Eurovision classic, “Milkshake Man”.
Honestly, it’s a bop, and I haven’t been able to get it out of my house since Go-Jo was announced. Plus, it’s the perfect tune for the 69th Eurovision, don’t you think?
Wait, how is Australia even involved in Eurovision?
Believe it or not, this is the 10th year that Australia is being represented in Eurovision — despite not even being close to Europe. I guess we just have impeccable charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent… or something.
In all seriousness, though, Australia’s involvement in the iconic worldwide song competition began in 2014 when true Australian princess Jessica Mauboy was invited to perform as a guest singer during an interval.
She was so bloody good (naturally) that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) extended an invitation to Australia to compete as a wildcard entry for the 60th year of the competition. We sent out the big guns — Guy Sebastian, duh — who came in fifth place.
He was such a hit that the SBS made a deal with the EBU to keep Australia in the competition until 2023. This was extended soon after and now we’re a fun little fixture to the Eurovision line-up.
Who has previously represented Australia in Eurovision?
Australia has had a pretty stellar lineup of talented artists over the last ten years. They have been:
- Guy Sebastian with “Tonight Again” (2015)
- Dami Im with “Sound of Silence” (2016)
- Isaiah Firebrace with “Don’t Come Easy” (2017)
- Jessica Mauboy with “We Got Love” (2018)
- Kate Miller-Heidke with “Zero Gravity” (2019)
- Montaigne with “Technicolour” (2021)
- Sheldon Riley with “Not the Same” (2022)
- Voyager with “Promise” (2023)
- Electric Fields with “One Mikali (One Blood)” (2024)
God, I am HYPED!!!!
Make sure to tune into Eurovision on SBS or SBS On Demand!!!
To celebrate, I’m going to leave you with my favourite Eurovision song of all time — Lena‘s 2010 masterpiece “Satellite”.
