It's all change at Aldi Wallsend when it opened its doors yesterday to a smart new look.
The German discounter welcomed customers back after last week's closure, and shoppers were soon enjoying the revamped layout.
The transformation is part of the chain's Project Fresh renovations, which have seen a £600m investment into improving its stores and services across the UK, based on feedback from more than 50,000 customers.

The Wallsend store, on 113 High Street, has increased to 1,154 sqm of retail space, dedicated to fresh British meat and fish, as well as Lacura health and beauty products, award winning beers, wines and spirits, famous Mamia babycare products, and a new and improved Food to Go section.
Fresh bread and cakes have been moved to the last aisle, preventing them getting squashed under customers’ shopping, and the store will now offer new, easy to browse freezers.
Of course, one of the big attractions of Aldi is the ‘Aisle of Aldi’, where shoppers can find legendary Specialbuys which are available every Thursday and Sunday.
During re-opening week, the store will be offering a range of homeware, including a concrete-base lamp for £29.99, entrance runners for £5.99 and extra-large cushions for £8.99.
Aldi, which has more than 950 stores in the UK, is consistently named as Britain's cheapest supermarket, most recently by consumer group Which? and The Grocer magazine.
The Wallsend store employs 30 people, and the refurbishment will create additional jobs.
Aldi Store Manager Robert McLellan said: “The store is looking fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome our loyal customers back so they can see it for themselves.
"We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience each customer enjoys in our stores is on a par with the products and services they’re used to."
