Wallace and Gromit: BBC unveils new film trailer before Christmas release

Fans of Wallace and Gromit rejoice: the BBC has released the trailer for the loveable duo’s latest film.

Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl will be the pair’s sixth film and their first since A Matter of Loaf and Death, released 16 years ago.

Nick Park, the creator and animator behind the duo, will direct the film.

It will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Christmas Day before being available on Netflix in the new year.

Here’s all you need to know about Wallace and Gromit and their new film.

Who are Wallace and Gromit?

Wallace and Gromit are beloved British animated characters. Wallace is an eccentric, cheese-obsessed inventor, while his loyal, silent dog, Gromit, is often the brains behind their adventures.

They debuted in the 1989 short film A Grand Day Out and quickly became cultural icons, thanks to their unique stop-motion animation and charming, humorous stories. The pair have won three Academy Awards:

  • The Wrong Trousers (1993) won Best Animated Short Film in 1994.
  • A Close Shave (1995) also won Best Animated Short Film in 1996.
  • Their first feature-length film, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005), won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2006.

Wallace and Gromit’s clever storytelling — and their endearing personalities and creative mishaps — have earned them a special place in the hearts of audiences worldwide.

What is the plot of Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl?

The film features the return of Feathers McGraw. He was the silent-yet-deadly criminal mastermind put behind bars in Wallace and Gromit’s first film, 1993’s The Wrong Trousers.

After a wave of crime (theft of garden goods, to be exact) in the local area, Wallace and his smart gnome, Norbot, become the main suspects. It’s up to Wallace and his canine pal to battle sinister forces to prove Wallace’s innocence.

Ben Whitehead will reprise his role as the voice of Wallace, with Peter Kay also returning as Chief Inspector Macintosh.

New additions to the film’s voice cast include Diane Morgan (Motherland), Adjoa Andoh (Bridgerton), Lauren Patel (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), and Lenny Henry. Details about their roles have not yet been revealed.
