The Wallabies have lost to Six Nations champions France 30-29 in a fierce Test match at the Stade de France near Paris.
There were a number of lead changes in a fascinating encounter, but the home side hit the front with three minutes left when Damian Penaud scored in the corner to send the home crowd into raptures.
The result comes a week after Australia's one-point win over an under-strength Scotland at Murrayfield.
