The Wallabies have produced an impressive performance with a 25-17 win over world champions South Africa in their Rugby Championship Test at Adelaide Oval.
Bouncing back from a humiliating 48-17 loss to Los Pumas in Argentina, the Wallabies scored three tries to two, with openside flanker Fraser McReight claiming a double.
Winger Marika Koroibete also crossed the stripe for the Wallabies, while he was involved in the play of the match when he made a try-saving tackle on Springboks flyer Makazole Mapimpi in the first half.
The win continued the misery for the Springboks in Australia, with the Wallabies unbeaten in the past eight clashes between the two sides at home.
It is also the Wallabies' second victory of this year's Rugby Championship.
They are level with Argentina on nine points on the tournament standings, but Los Pumas hold top spot on points difference following their upset win over the All Blacks in Christchurch.
The Wallabies and Springboks meet again next Saturday night at the redeveloped Sydney Football Stadium.
Wallabies coach Dave Rennie said he was proud of how his squad responded after the loss to Argentina earlier this month.
"We had an honest and brutal type of review and we got the response we expected," Rennie said.
"We're rapt with the result but we're well aware of the challenge of next week and backing that up, which we haven't done this year.
"The South Africans are a hell of a side and they're going to be tougher next week so we will have to take our game to another level.
"If we genuinely want people to get behind us we have to front every week."
Discipline was still an issue for the Wallabies, with the penalty count 15-9 and two yellow cards.
They also conceded two late tries but coach Dave Rennie got the response he was after.
McReight scored in each half and made a crucial breakdown turnover when the Springboks looked destined to cross.
Five-eighth Noah Lolesio had his best match for the Wallabies and set up McReight's second try.
With the Wallabies a player down when fellow winger Tom Wright was yellow-carded after repeat team infringements, the Springboks were hunting their first try late in the first half.
Mapimpi looked a certainty until man-of-the-match Koroibete raced 40 metres from his own wing and cannon-balled into the Springboks winger, sending him flying over the sideline.
The Wallabies were able to take a 10-3 lead into half-time, with the visitors also forced to play the opening 10 minutes of the second half without Faf de Klerk.
De Klerk was yellow-carded after clipping the head of his opposite Nic White, with the Australian diving to the ground to milk the penalty.
Earlier, the Wallabies finally got the start they were after with McReight crossing in the first minute after some quick hands in attack.
A Lolesio penalty pushed the score out to 10-3 but the Springboks built into the match and had every right to be in front at half-time but for their try misses and wayward kicking by Handre Pollard.
Koroibete crossed in the 46th minute when he wrong-footed Pollard and the margin was out to 22-3 in favour of the Wallabies 10 minutes later when McReight backed up a Lolesio flick pass.
The Springboks at least stopped the Wallabies collecting a bonus point with flanker Kwagga Smith scoring twice in the final six minutes.
