A witness who was at a Hezbollah funeral in the southern suburbs of Beirut has described the chaos that ensued when walkie-talkies appeared to explode at around 5 p.m. local time (10 a.m. ET).
The witness, who cannot be named for security reasons, recounted a loud bang followed by screams. They reported that the man whose wireless device exploded was covered in blood, with his hands blown off.
This incident occurred just one day after hundreds of pagers detonated across Lebanon, resulting in the tragic loss of at least 12 lives and leaving 2,800 individuals injured.
