An electrician was caught flouting his driving ban just minutes after getting behind the wheel of his father's car.
Connor Poole was disqualified for 23 months in July last year after driving a vehicle whilst drunk. However, the 27-year-old appeared to show his contempt for the order when he decided to take his dad's Ford Focus for a spin late one evening last month, a court was told.
Uninsured Poole claimed he wanted to take the vehicle from his father's house to his own in order for his colleague and co-business owner to be able to use the following morning. Prosecutors said that, just moments after getting behind the wheel, Poole was stopped by police.

Now, Poole, of Clapham Avenue, in Walker, has been given a further ban of 16 months after he appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court to plead guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance. He was also fined £566 and must pay £85 costs.
Jennifer McKelvin, prosecuting, said Poole was stopped by police in his dad's Ford Focus on Scrogg Road, in Walker, at around 11.30pm on April 23. Mrs McKelvin added: "The defendant identified himself and checks were carried out confirming he had been disqualified from driving from July 2022 until June 2024.
"He made full admissions at the roadside to driving while disqualified and without insurance. The offence for which he originally got the driving ban is his only past conviction. It was driving with excess alcohol."
Adrian Ions, defending, said Poole had recently set-up a business with another male and was getting his father's car in order for that male to drive for the business the following day. Mr Ions added: "His business partner's vehicle had gone to the garage for emergency repairs.
"They had a week's work booked in and arrangements were made for Mr Poole's father to lend them his vehicle for the business partner to drive. His business partner was added to his father's insurance."
