Walker and Grealish start - Man City fans name starting line-up they want to see vs Tottenham

Manchester City fans have had their say on who should start for the Blues in their Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon, with the Blues having the chance to close the gap on Arsenal.

The Blues progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a victory over Mikel Arteta's men in their last match nine days ago. Prior to the cup triumph, City cruised past Wolves in the Premier League thanks to a hat-trick from Erling Haaland. Guardiola's men have won their last three matches in all competitions and will be looking to make it four in North London.

City came from behind to defeat the London outfit when the two sides met last month, with Julian Alvarez, Haaland and Riyad Mahrez (2) all on the scoresheet. Spurs will be without their manager on Sunday, with Antonio Conte recovering from surgery to remove his gallbladder.

With the Gunners having lost to Everton on Saturday, the Blues have the chance to close the gap on the league leaders to just two points. Here's how MEN-reading City fans think the team should line up:

Goalkeeper - Ederson

Unsurprisingly, City fans want to see Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson start against Spurs on Sunday. The 29-year-old, who has featured in every single Premier League match so far this season, has recorded eight clean sheets this term. Only Nick Pope and Aaron Ramsdale have kept more clean sheets than him and he will be hoping to register his ninth against Conte's men.

Defenders - Kyle Walker, Manuel Akanji, Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Ake

With Joao Cancelo having left the club to join Bayern Munich on loan, it appears that Nathan Ake will be City's first-choice left-back. The Dutchman has performed well in that role in recent weeks - even scoring the winner in the victory over Arsenal. On the other flank, City fans want to see Kyle Walker start. While Rico Lewis has performed well since coming into the side, Blues supporters want to see the veteran return to the starting line-up.

At the heart of defence, it is likely to be Aymeric Laporte and Manuel Akanji. John Stones is currently sidelined with an injury, and Ruben Dias has made just nine Premier League starts this season. Given that Akanji has featured more regularly than the other two centre-backs, he is expected to be the mainstay in the side.

Midfielders - Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne

The majority of City fans would probably argue that Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne are the club's best three midfielders, so it is no real surprise that supporters want to see the trio start against Spurs. Rodri has missed just one Premier League game this campaign, and the Blues certainly look a better side when he is on the pitch.

De Bruyne, meanwhile, has been in good form this season and has registered 15 goal contributions in 19 top-flight matches. It remains to be seen where Bernardo will be playing his football next term, with the Portuguese ace continuing to be linked with a move away from the Etihad. For now, though, he is a City player and will be important if Guardiola's men are to win silverware once again.

Forwards - Riyad Mahrez, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish

Haaland is expected to break several goalscoring records this season, with the Norwegian ace having already scored 31 goals in 27 matches in all competitions. The Premier League golden boot is pretty much his to lose, and City fans will be desperate to see him on the scoresheet against Spurs once again.

Jack Grealish has looked much-improved in recent weeks, and while he has still only bagged two goals this term, the England international has been performing well. On the other wing, Mahrez has been one of the team's standout performers and, like Haaland, will be hoping to find the back of the net against Conte's men.
