Wales team to play Fiji named as Josh Adams changes position and Alex Cuthbert starts in shock announcement

Wales have made five changes in personnel, plus two positional switches, for Sunday’s clash with Fiji at the Principality Stadium.

There’s a first cap in four years for Alex Cuthbert who starts on the right wing and a return after 21 months for flanker Thomas Young, while Josh Adams moves into the centre from the wing.

Scrum-half Kieran Hardy gets his first opportunity of the autumn campaign as he wears No 9, while Liam Williams comes into the side at full-back and Johnny Williams returns at inside centre.

The other positional change from the 23-18 defeat to South Africa sees the versatile Taine Basham step across from the openside flank to No 8 to replace the injured Aaron Wainwright.

There’s set to be a first cap for 19-year-old Exeter back-five forward Christ Tshiunza who is named among the replacements along with Bristol fly-half Callum Sheedy and recently called up prop Gareth Thomas.

Wales team to face Fiji: Liam Williams; Alex Cuthbert, Josh Adams, Johnny Williams, Louis Rees-Zammit; Dan Biggar, Kieran Hardy; Rhys Carre, Ryan Elias, Tomas Francis; Will Rowlands, Adam Beard; Ellis Jenkins, Thomas Young, Taine Basham.

Reps: Bradley Roberts, Gareth Thomas, WillGriff John, Christ Tshiunza, Seb Davies, Tomos Williams, Callum Sheedy, Nick Tompkins.
