Wales set for big weather change this week after Met Office issues thunderstorms warning

A change to Wales' period of hot and dry weather is expected this week as a weather warning of storms has been issued over the border. Weather agency the Met Office has forecast rain for parts of the country on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The forecaster has also issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms for Sunday in the north east of England and Scotland. This weather warning has not been issued for Wales, but there is a chance Wrexham and surrounding area could see heavy rain and some thunder on Sunday afternoon. The rest of the country will likely see a dry day with mix of sunshine and clouds.

It could be that the hot and dry weather we have been experiencing is coming to an end, as the Met Office is predicting "more unsettled conditions" in its long range forecast from Thursday June 29 to Saturday July 8.

Further showers, perhaps turning thundery in the south, with increased amounts of cloud and some persistent, occasionally heavy rain mainly affecting western areas.
