Wales player ratings vs Armenia as defenders have shockers and Moore sees red on horrible night

This is is how we rated the Wales players during their Euro 2024 qualifier against Armenia at Cardiff City Stadium.

DANNY WARD - 4

Cut out a dangerous cross on the 15-minute mark. Helpless for Zelarayan's superb strike and for Mamedova's header. Third was another stunner and was stranded for the fourth.

CONNOR ROBERTS - 4

Offensively his long throws were a constant danger. Partly culpable for the second goal though and had a tough night against Tiknizyan.

CHRIS MEPHAM - 4

Along with Rodon was caught ball-watching for the equaliser and lost Mamedova for the second. In truth the whole back four was at sea for most of the game.

JOE RODON - 4

Was caught out positionally for Zelarayan's rocket and gave the ball away for the second. Did go close to making amends at the other end. Looked rusty. Subbed.

BEN DAVIES - 4

Preferred to Neco Williams on the left, swung in a couple of wicked balls from the flank. Like his fellow defenders, was caught napping on the second and was off it like the rest of the backline.

ETHAN AMPADU - 5

Was left on his own in the middle of the park at times. The combination with him and Ramsey in the middle didn't seem to work.

AARON RAMSEY - 4

Caught between two stools. At his best on the front foot but looked off the pace here. Subbed.

BRENNAN JOHNSON - 6

On the right of a front three, rolled a brilliant cross for James to score the opener. Stung the hands of the away keeper with a shot on the half-volley midway through first half. Wales needed to give him the ball more often. Subbed.

HARRY WILSON - 6

Lively, although occasionally careless in possession. Joined Moore in the attacking line as often as he could. Ofter dragged players out to the right. Kept supplying the crosses but no-one took the chances. Deserved his goal. Subbed.

DANIEL JAMES - 6 - STAR MAN

Started brightly and took his goal well. Ran tirelessly and was a constant threat on the left-hand side. Final ball has improved, but Wales couldn't capitalise on his centres. Subbed.

KIEFFER MOORE - 4

Got on the end of Roberts' long throws a number of times. Headed a sumptuous Johnson cross just wide. Defenders couldn't deal with him but he was guilty of not taking his chances. Red card was deserved.
