Wales prop Rhodri Jones is leaving the Ospreys to join the Dragons at the end of the United Rugby Championship campaign.
The 30-year-old has started just one game this season and will move east in search of regular game-time.
His exit will bring to a close a six-year stint at the Ospreys during which has seen him switch back from tighthead prop to his preferred position on the other side of the scrum. He has consistently impressed with his setpiece work but Toby Booth's side have fellow Wales internationals Gareth Thomas and Nicky Smith on their books plus Rhys Henry, who can play on both sides of the scrum, while the promising Garyn Phillips is out on loan.
Jones, who has played 84 times for the Swansea.com Stadium team, said: “During my time at the Ospreys, I played some of the best rugby of my career after switching back to my natural position as loosehead prop.
“I am grateful to the coaches, my teammates, staff and the supporters for the support they have given me during my time in Swansea.
“My focus is now on competing for a place and playing for the Ospreys until the rest of the season.”
Jones has made 84 appearances for the Ospreys all told and will be able to look back with satisfaction on his efforts at the region.
So good was his form last year that he featured for Wales in the Six Nations and in their summer Tests.
His arrival at the Dragons will help beef up the Gwent side in an area where they have long needed to add to their depth.
