Wales football match kits for kids almost run out on JD Sports

Very few items of replica Wales match kits for children remain available with the nation's World Cup campaign set to start next week. The only seller of Wales' official replica football kits, JD Sports, has just a few options available.

JD Sports branches have run out of junior and adult Wales kits, while its website is almost sold out. There is still a wide ranging of replica training kits available, although even these are selling fast and many sizes are already sold out.

We contacted JD Sports but the retailer would not comment on the scarcity of replica match kits and would only say that it had seem "exceptionally strong demand". The Qatar tournament will kick off on Sunday and Wales' first game will be against the USA next Monday.

As of Friday, November 18, on the retailer's website:

  • Junior home shirts at £50 are sold out in all sizes
  • Junior and adult match shorts are not available
  • Home socks are only available for £18 in one size 4.5 to 6

There is better availability of

  • Adult home shirt for £65 in small, medium, large or extra large
  • Junior away shirt for £50 in ages seven to eight; nine to ten; 11 to 12; and 13 to 14
  • Adult away socks for £20 in sizes 6.5 to 8; 8.5 to 10; and 10 to 12
  • A variety of training kit

The items still on sale are marked as "selling fast". Employees of JD Sports stores in Wales told us "the best thing is to keep checking" for online restocks of official replicas.

A JD spokesperson said: “We have seen exceptionally strong demand for the Football Association of Wales kit as fans prepare for the World Cup. JD offers the full range of the Welsh football kit via its website and will be making additional deliveries to stores in Wales over the coming days. As a proud sponsor and official retail partner of the FAW, JD wishes the team all the success for the tournament.”

WalesOnline has asked the company for clarification on when more stock will be available on the website. You can read more of the latest World Cup stories here.
