Wales announce autumn international fixtures: Dates and ticket prices as All Blacks and Wallabies return to Cardiff

Wales' 2022 autumn internationals have been confirmed with New Zealand, Australia, Argentina and Georgia coming to the Welsh capital later this year.

Wayne Pivac's side will kick their campaign off with a daunting opening fixture against the All Blacks on November 5, hoping to claim a victory for the first time since 1953. The last time the two sides met was last year when Wales lost 54-16.

Next up it will be Argentina coming to the Principality Stadium on November 12. They return to the venue having played back-to-back Cardiff Test matches against Wales in the summer, in front of reduced crowds due to Covid-19.

Then it will be a clash with the 2023 Rugby World Cup pool opponents Georgia. The two teams are familiar with each other, having met three times in the last five years.

Finally, the Autumn campaign will end on November 26 with a match against the Wallabies as Wales look to secure their fourth consecutive victory in the fixture.

However, Pivac will be without some of his best players for that final game against Australia as it takes place outside the Test window, meaning players based at English clubs will have to return to their employers.

“Wayne Pivac and his Wales squad will relish the opportunity to get back out on the pitch after a tough Six Nations,” said WRU chief executive Steve Phillips.

“In international rugby you always want to test yourselves against the best teams and we will be facing each of the very best sides in the world in the year ahead. With a three-Test tour of South Africa preceding the 2022 Autumn Nations Series, we will be taking on the full set of Rugby Championship opposition.

“Add to that the extra attraction of facing our future 2023 Rugby World Cup Pool C opponents Georgia on home soil and meeting the Wallabies, who we also face in the Rugby World Cup, and this year’s Autumn Nations Series presents an extremely challenging and exciting prospect for all.

“These matches, together with the 2023 Six Nations Championship, will form a vital part of Rugby World Cup preparation. With four Saturday afternoon kick-offs in Cardiff against top quality opposition to look forward to this autumn, the best place to buy a ticket will, as always, be via WRU member clubs and further information about availability will be released soon.”

Ticket details

The WRU say that prices for autumn tickets have not risen since 2018 and remain frozen across the board for the matches against Argentina, Georgia and Australia later this year. However, there has been a £10 price increase for tickets to watch the match against the All Blacks, with exception of the £40 entry ticket.

Price for tickets in the Alcohol Free Zone have also been altered to make them more competitive, with tickets in that area now being available as category D, instead of C. That makes them £15 (Georgia), £25 (Argentina), £35 Australia and £70 (New Zealand) for adults - with a 50% reduction in price for U17s.

WRU member clubs, debenture holders and premium members can apply for tickets from next week. The general public can purchase tickets from their local rugby club, from Friday 10 June.

In line with the pricing structure set out below, the WRU say 'a family of four could attend the Georgia game for £30, the Pumas game for £60, watch the Wallabies for £75 or go to the All Blacks match for £120'.
