Leading Australian surfers continue to wait anxiously for their elimination heats at the World Surf League's Rio Pro after organisers called a fifth lay-day at Saquarema's Praia de Itauna.
The window for the competition remains open until Saturday July 1.
"We went on hold several times today in hopes of running a few heats, but we didn't see enough contestable waves," WSL Director of Tours and Competition Renato Hickel said on Wednesday.
"We'll have another look tomorrow and keep monitoring the swell forecast for the end of the waiting period."
When competition does finally restart, world No.4 Molly Picklum, from the NSW Central Coast, faces a must-win heat against France's Johanne Defay if she is to join compatriot Tyler Wright in the quarter-finals.
Eight-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore was knocked out on the event's opening day.
In the men's competition, Australia's world No.6 Jack Robinson will contest a sudden-death showdown with Hawaii's Seth Moniz for a place in the round of 16 while Connor O'Leary faces another Hawaiian in Ian Gentil.
The Gold Coast's Callum Robson goes up against Japan's Kanoa Igarashi, a WSL finalist last year.
Fellow Australians Ethan Ewing, Ryan Callinan and Liam O'Brien all won their opening heats.
