Wait continues for Pipe Pro surfing in Hawaii

Australia's Callum Robson got the wave of the day before the Pipe Pro in Hawaii went on hold. (HANDOUT/WORLD SURF LEAGUE)

The wait continues in Hawaii for the world's best surfers with competition at the Pipe Pro remaining on hold for a fourth successive day.

Only one day of competition was completed last week, with the men getting through two rounds, before organisers called it off due to inclement winds and the swell running in the wrong direction.

They remain hopeful of better conditions arriving in the next 24 hours at Oahu so the season-opening event can re-start with the women hitting the water.

Australia's world No.3 Tyler Wright is up in first heat, taking on local Bettylou Sakura Johnson and Brazil's Luana Silva.

Sally Fitzgibbons faces a tough first-up match-up against defending champion Hawaii's Carissa Moore and Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy, while other Australians in action include India Robinson, Isabella Nichols and world No.5 Molly Picklum.

In the men's competition defending champion Jack Robinson awaits a clash with Morocco's Ramzi Boukhiam in round of 32 action.

Queensland's world No.2 Ethan Ewing will take on legend Kelly Slater iwhile other Australian men still in contention are Liam O'Brien, Ryan Callinan, Jacob Willcox and Callum Robson.
