Wagamama Edinburgh forced to apologise after customer moans about staff greeting

Wagamama was forced to apologise to a diner who slammed the 'impersonal and detached' service at one of their Edinburgh venues.

A customer at the Wagamama restaurant on St Andrew Square left a scathing review of their recent visit on TripAdvisor and claimed waiting staff acted like the diners 'weren't there'.

A Wagamama member of staff responded to the savage two out of five star feedback to 'apologise for letting you down'.

In spite of the guest's comments on the service however, they said the food was 'up to Wagamama standards'.

Their review said: "We're usual users of Wagamama, from day one when they opened the York branch years ago.

"We know the food well and found it to be of the usual consistent Waga standards.

"The service however was poor to say the least. No hello and no-one even tried to say a farewell.

"It was impersonal, detached and serious, as if we weren't there, really."

A Guest Relations Manager for Wagamama replied to the TripAdvisor review to say: "We are so sorry to see this and we apologise for letting you down", before asking the customer to supply further details.

Despite the scathing criticism of the service, Wagamama on St Andrew Square generally garners favourable feedback. From over 430 reviews left on the travel review site, the restaurant has been given an average 4.5 star rating, with diners praising a 'great Asian experience'.
