A Perth woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed a Woolworths employee at a northern suburbs supermarket.
Police allege the 35-year-old was armed with a large knife when she attended the Ellenbrook store on Tuesday afternoon.
It is alleged she approached the employee, a 44-year-old woman who was stacking shelves, and stabbed her in the back before leaving the store.
She was arrested hours later at her Bullsbrook home.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.
Police have said the women did not know each other and described the incident as a random attack.
The alleged stabber has been charged with attempting unlawfully to kill.
She has been refused police bail and will face Midland Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The Ellenbrook store remained open but police cordoned off the area where the incident took place.
A Woolworths representative said the company was providing support to the victim and offering counselling to other staff.
