WA Politician Has Name Changed To ‘Aussie Trump’ Ahead Of Re-Election

The controversial Western Australia politician formerly known as Benjamin Dawkins has had his name legally changed to Austin “Aussie” Trump — in obvious reference to US President Donald Trump — in what he describes as a “political protest”.

(Aussie) Trump shared the news of the name change to his X (formerly Twitter) account, showing an official document from Births, Deaths and Marriages.

“It’s a political protest. It’s not an extreme thing at all.

“I’ve walked into the registry office with one name and walked out with another.”

Trump said that he admired the US President’s ideology and leadership, stating that the latter is “great at calling out absurd, woke, leftist crap,” on February 6.

“As Donald would say, we shouldn’t be held hostage to the Green-Labor climate ideology.

“We need to drill, baby, drill.”

Other politicians have reacted to the news, with WA Premier Roger Cook saying that it left him “speechless.”

Libby Mettam, WA Liberal Party Leader, described it as “incredibly juvenile.”

WA locals have also given their take on the name change, with some describing it as “extremely cringe”.

Another local had this to say: “I think it’s ostentatious and I would not entertain the idea of that sort of person.”

The politician was previously a Labour MLC, who was later expelled from the party following him pleading guilty to 35 breaches of a domestic violence restraining order issued by his ex-partner.

He would later join Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party, only to have Hanson give him the boot.

Trump is now an Independent in Australia.
