WA Police identify body of woman found floating in Fremantle Harbour

A woman's body found in the water near a yacht club in South Fremantle has been identified as a 25-year-old from the Perth suburb of Koongamia.

Police were called to Capo D'Orlando Drive in South Fremantle after a member of the public found the woman's remains in the water off the end of a groyne in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The area is popular with charter boat companies and recreational fishers, and not far from the Fremantle Sailing Club.

Detectives were initially unable to identify anything about the body except to say it was of an adult woman and not a child.

Police say the circumstances in which the body was found raised significant concerns.

The homicide squad is investigating how she died.

The limestone groyne where she was discovered borders the west side of Success Boat Harbour.
