WA Police Charge 56 Y.O. Former Principal For Allegedly Possessing Child Exploitation Material

CONTENT WARNING: This article discusses child exploitation material.

WA Police have charged a 56-year-old former school principal with allegedly possessing child exploitation material while working at a Perth college.

Last Tuesday, detectives from the Child Exploitation Operations Squad searched the man’s home in Ellenbrook, a northeastern suburb of Perth, where they seized a number of electronic devices allegedly belonging to the man.

“It will be alleged a forensic triage of some of the devices seized identified child exploitation material on them,” read a statement from WA Police.

Following the arrest, the 56-year-old former principal was charged with:

  • One count of possessing child exploitation material,
  • One count of fail to obey, and
  • Unlawfully possessed a controlled or prescription drug.

According to detectives, the offences are alleged to have occurred while the man was working as a principal at a college in Perth’s metropolitan area.

“At this time there is no evidence that any student of the college was depicted in the child exploitation material,” read a statement from WA Police.

The man is expected to appear at the Midland Magistrates Court on September 17.
