WA Health issues warning over Qukes baby cucumbers following salmonella outbreak

WA Health has issued an urgent warning about a baby cucumber brand after more than a dozen people fell ill over the festive season.

Health authorities were alerted to an outbreak of diarrhoea after consumers ate the Qukes brand of baby cucumbers.

Earlier on Friday, Pathwest confirmed the presence of Salmonella Typhimurium in cucumbers purchased from a Perth metropolitan supermarket on December 23.

The cucumbers were tested after 19 people fell ill.

The supplier, Perfection Fresh in South Australia, has been made aware of the situation.

The investigation is ongoing and WA Health is advising people not to consume Qukes purchased in December until more information becomes available.

This is the only brand under investigation, with other brands of cucumbers safe to eat.

It comes after about 200 Australians fell ill after eating contaminated spinach from Riviera Farms, which is based in Victoria
