WA expands skilled migrant program

Premier Mark McGowan hopes WA's lifestyle and strong economy will attract skilled migrants. (AAP)

Western Australia has expanded internationally a campaign to attract skilled workers, targeting migrants from the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The campaign was launched last year and initially focused on attracting people from interstate to help bolster the state's health, construction and manufacturing sectors.

"Our world-leading management of COVID-19, robust economy and relaxed way of life positions us strongly as a place for people living overseas to move to and call home," Premier Mark McGowan said.

"What makes Western Australia so attractive compared to other states is that we have the highest annual salary and the lowest average mortgage.

"So if you want to earn a good wage while paying less on your home, then you should look at WA."

The premier said Western Australia also had a significant program of major infrastructure projects that would provide quality job and business opportunities into the future.
