Police are examining the contents of a "suspicious" package found washed up on a beach on Western Australia's south coast.
An Australian Federal Police spokesperson told the ABC on Friday the single black plastic bag, containing smaller wrapped packages, was found on a beach near Denmark on Tuesday.
"The AFP and Australian Border Force are investigating the circumstances of this discovery," they said.
"One black plastic bag containing a number of smaller packages was found and the exact weight and type of substance found will be determined by forensic examination."
It comes after the AFP launched an investigation on Wednesday after it found other packages they also labelled as "suspicious", on board a capsized vessel in Peaceful Bay, also near Denmark.
The same vessel was involved in a major sea rescue off the Albany coast last week.
Three men were pulled from the ocean near Eclipse Island after the boat capsized and started sinking.
The AFP said it was still investigating whether the "package that washed up onshore is linked to the packages found in the recovered vessel".
The spokesperson said if members of the public found similar bags, they should not touch them and contact police immediately.
