Vulgar podium gesture from World Cup winner leaves Gary Lineker stunned on live TV

Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano 'Emi' Martinez's lewd gesture when awarded with the Golden Glove trophy in front of a TV audience of billions had Gary Lineker taken aback.

Pivotal to Argentina's first World Cup win since 1986, Aston Villa keeper Martinez had the double celebration of marking his country's third football World Cup trophy and being awarded the Golden Glove. Thee award is quite simply awarded to the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

He kept three clean sheets during the tournament ahead of his heroic shootout display in the final. He had also been the hero for Argentina in their quarter-final shootout win over Netherlands, saving two penalties from Virgil van Dijk and Teun Koopmeiners.

However, he didn't celebrate in the most sophisticated of ways - instead performing a vulgar gesture while on the podium.

The moment certainly took aback both viewers at home and pundits, including BBC presenter Gary Lineker, who could be heard saying: "No! Don't do that, Emi".

It came after Argentina won the most dramatic final in history on penalties after Kylian Mbappe's hat-trick had kept holders France alive.

After 63 matches and a thrilling month of action, Sunday's breathless finale was the wildest conclusion anyone could have imagined to the first finals held in the Middle East and Arab world.

Lionel Messi came to Qatar looking to crown a glittering career by leading Argentina to a third World Cup triumph and managed just that after a staggering 3-3 draw ending in a 4-2 shootout victory against France.
