With President Biden self-isolating at home due to COVID-19, Vice President Harris took to the campaign trail in North Carolina on Thursday. This move came just hours before former President Trump was set to formally accept the Republican Party's presidential nomination.
During her campaign appearance, Harris focused on defending abortion rights and the administration's prescription drug policies. She also took the opportunity to criticize Sen. JD Vance, the newly selected vice-presidential nominee for the Republican Party.
Harris questioned the Republican Party's claims of unity, stating that mere words were not enough to demonstrate true unity. She also called out Trump's attempt to divert attention from his record and the so-called Project 2025 plan, which aims to restructure parts of the U.S. government.
Project 2025, also known as the Presidential Transition Project, was initiated in April 2023 by a group of Heritage Foundation directors. It is not officially associated with Trump's campaign, and Trump himself expressed unfamiliarity with the project during a recent interview.
Trump described Project 2025 as a wish list created by a group of conservative individuals, some of which he strongly disagrees with. This statement was made during an interview conducted before a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump narrowly escaped an assassination attempt.
