There was volleyball, ice cream and paddling as crowds enjoyed a day of perfect sunshine on Crosby beach.
The volleyball game took place yards from the sea as families paddled together in the water. An ice-cream van also served up Mr Whippy ices and cold drinks as the mercury rose.
Many families pitched umbrellas and breakers to protect them from the sun, as temperatures reached around 25C. There was police presence at Formby beach car park today as crowds headed to the the town's golden sands.

Today was seen by some as an opportunity to enjoy the beach before temperatures reach more dangerous levels.
Crosby Beach has always been a favourite with people in Merseyside and from the pictures below it is clear to see why. Our photographer was on the beach on Saturday morning and captured all the reasons people are flooding to the Sefton beauty spot.
The UK Health Security Agency has increased its heat health warning from level three to level four – a “national emergency”. Level four is reached “when a heatwave is so severe and/or prolonged that its effects extend outside the health and social care system… At this level, illness and death may occur among the fit and healthy, and not just in high-risk groups,” it said.
Cabinet Office minister Kit Malthouse chaired a meeting of the Government’s Cobra civil contingencies committee to discuss the escalating heatwave earlier today. Labour criticised Prime Minister Boris Johnson after reports that he had failed to attend previous Cobra meetings.
