Voice of the Mirror: 'Same Tories in power after Sunak brings Braverman back into fold'

Rishi Sunak’s dodgy deal to give sacked security breaker Suella Braverman her job back as Home Secretary means his is already another incompetent Tory regime behaving without integrity.

Both the Prime Minister and “Leaky Sue” are on shaky ground. Doubt is being cast on their dubious version of events by Sir Jake Berry who was chairman of the Conservative Party when Braverman was fired in the dying hours of Liz Truss’s disastrous premiership.

The involvement of MI5 and objections of incredibly senior Whitehall officials suggest Sunak committed a colossal mistake in giving Braverman the sensitive post back in return for her public backing in his bid for the top job.

Add the accusations that Sunak was not entirely honest in Parliament, misleading MPs when grilled by Labour leader Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions, and this latest Government feels uncomfortably similar to the chaotic, untrustworthy Boris Johnson era.

A royal mess

Coming to terms with the death of the Queen, the Royal Family will be nervously awaiting what is billed as the unflinching memoir of estranged Harry.

The title of the Prince over the water’s book, Spare, suggests the troubled Duke of Sussex felt he did not fit in before going to the US with wife Meghan to make their fortune.

Dad King Charles, stepmother Queen Consort Camilla, and brother William will be concerned about what the memoir claims after an interview with Oprah Winfrey included allegations of racism and cruelty.

This side of the Atlantic the trickiest call will be if the royals return fire if wayward Harry criticises them once again.

Cheers, champ
