Voice of the Mirror: PM admitting he knew about Chris Pincher reports is another U-turn

The admission by Downing Street that Boris Johnson was aware of reports about alleged drunken groper Chris Pincher’s behaviour before appointing him Deputy Chief Whip is another U-turn for a Prime Minister who struggles to tell the truth.

Outright lies are the currency of a PM caught fibbing time after time, most notoriously over Partygate, with the fined lawbreaker facing a Parliamentary inquiry over evidence he knowingly misled MPs with outright denials.

Perhaps not wanting to be caught deceiving the House of Commons over Pincher after No10 claimed he knew no “specific” allegations, the PM’s judgment is called into question again.

Cabinet ministers ordered to go on TV and radio to tell lies are in revolt, anxious to salvage what is left of tattered reputations.

The truth is every Tory MP who supports Johnson or looks the other way is complicit.

He doesn’t deserve to be PM. Either they get rid of him or they should all go.

Brexit factor

Labour leader Keir Starmer is right to fight the next General Election without re-running the 2016 Brexit referendum.

By pledging a Government led by him would not reverse Brexit, rejoin the Single Market and Customs Union or restore freedom of movement, he can take the fight to the Conservatives and Boris Johnson.

The goal must be to Make Brexit Work under Labour when the Tories are risking a trade war by threatening to break international law over Northern Ireland.

Johnson’s Brexit is an expensive own goal and the promise of £350million extra for the NHS was a lie of epic proportions.

Euros vision

BEST wishes to England and Northern Ireland’s women footballers in the Euros.

Let’s hope they finally end 56 years of hurt since the men’s 1966 triumph.
