Vogue Williams visits new home in Jersey - but doesn't want to live there despite Spencer Matthews splashing out £7m to buy it

Vogue Williams has said she doesn't want to live in Jersey full time – after husband Spencer Matthews splashed out more than £7m for the lavish property.

In December last year, Spencer revealed they had bought a third home in Jersey.

The couple already have homes in London and in Vogue's hometown of Howth in Dublin.

This week mum-of-three Vogue flew to Jersey to visit the stunning property – but admitted she doesn’t want to live at the luxurious home full time.

Spencer said: “We’re here in beloved Jersey, just so everybody knows. Vogue, my wife, what do you think of the house?”

Vogue responded: “The house is absolutely amazing. It’s really good. And do you know what I like most about the house? There is a lot of good light.”

Spencer said: “Do you get why I was so emphatically in love with the place before? When I saw it and I was here for five minutes, and I said ‘definitely going to buy this place’ when I was looking around it for the first time. Do you now get it?”

Vogue responded on their Spencer and Vogue podcast: “Yeah, but I got it that time too. Remember I said, yeah, we should get this place.”

But Spencer joked saying: “I remember it slightly differently now.”

But Vogue quipped: “You’re confusing things now. You’re trying to push Jersey on me, you’re trying to make me live here and I don’t” but Spencer said: “I’m not trying to push it on you, you’re pushing it on yourself, sister.”

Vogue responded: “I don’t want to live here full time. I’m not living here full time.”

But she said she “loves Jersey”, recalling going to one of her favourite restaurants while visiting.

According to the Express newspaper last year, they revealed the property they bought is called Domaine de la Valette (formerly known as La Vallette Farm) along La Rue de Sorel in St. John, and 13 surrounding fields.

According to court documents seen by Express at the time, the complex comprises two apartments, a cottage, swimming pool, garages and various outbuildings.

Additional fields and parcels of land neighbouring the home were also purchased, totalling an extra £500,000.

The sale was finalised on Friday December 3, 2021 in Jersey's Royal Court in Spencer's name. On the same day, Spencer and Vogue jointly registered a £5m mortgage with Santander's Jersey branch before the court.

Spencer previously described the new property as “another string to the bow”, alongside homes in Howth and London.

Expressing the “excitement in my heart”, he went on to imagine “croquet on the lawn and Theodore jumping in and out.”

Vogue told him on their podcast: “Jersey is more your thing”, to which Spencer responded that the home is “obviously for you as well darling, our family… I don’t see myself coming to Jersey on my own.”

“I hope you love it because it is incredibly beautiful and I think the kids will love it,” he added.

The news garnered mixed reactions from islanders at the time.

Reform Jersey leader Senator Sam Mézec said the news was evidence Jersey has “a Government of the rich for the rich”.

“Welcome any C-list celebrity to buy up homes here to leave empty most of the time, but let’s not even consider building more homes for ordinary islanders on land we own with a developer we own,” he said, alluding to the Government’s recent decision to shoot down his plan to increase the number of affordable homes being built by the States of Jersey Development Company at the Waterfront and South Hill.

Spencer Matthews is no stranger to Jersey – his half-sister, Nina Mackie, is based in the island with her husband, Adam, one of the brains behind Yesss Electrical.
