Vocal pundit makes dramatic U-turn on Arsenal 'pathetic' claim with huge Barcelona comparison

Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Arsenal 'were playing like Barcelona of 2011' during their 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace just days after he labelled the club 'pathetic'.

Gabriel Martinelli's header and a Marc Guehi own goal sealed all three points for the Gunners at Selhurst Park in what was a comfortable but impressive triumph. Agbonlahor would even state that no team had played better in Saturday's fixtures, including Spurs' in their 4-1 win over Southampton.

"Arsenal have shown me the best 45 minutes of football this season, out of all the games we have seen. Last night and today," the former Aston Villa captain said.

"They were unbelievable. Gabriel Jesus was so sharp, [Oleksandr] Zinchenko on the ball. Arsenal were playing like Barcelona of 2011. Yes or no?"

However, only a handful of days ago Agbonlahor had claimed Mikel Arteta's side were 'pathetic' for their preparations ahead of their clash with Liverpool last season, which were shown on Arsenal's All or Nothing documentary.

"First of all, this Arsenal documentary will be funnier than Kevin Hart's stand up for me. I feel like that’s the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen! If I was training on that pitch, I’d find it funny."

"I mean when they're playing in the Europa League, and they're playing Fenerbahce away, are they going to get flares to the training ground and someone coming in playing the drums? It's ridiculous, the players aren't going to be on board with that.

Arsenal continue their new campaign by hosting Leicester City next weekend.
