Vlad Yatsenko
Born to Ukrainian parents in communist East Germany, the software developer Vlad Yatsenkopreviously worked for Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse, where he built traditional financial systems.
The son of a soldier, he has said the company needs “rockstar” software developers.
After the company faced criticism over its working culture and delays to securing a British banking license, Yatsenko has talked of the importance of openness and transparency as it seeks to make its wide-ranging app the one place people can manage their finances, from debit cards to crypto holdings.
From Mykolaiv in southern Ukraine, Yatsenko is a fierce critic of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, he set the firm up with co-founder Nikolay Storonsky, who has renounced his Russian citizenship.
