Vizag eatery soon to serve biryani garnished with 23-carat edible gold

VISAKHAPATNAM: Vizagites will soon have the opportunity to taste a new variety of biryani garnished with 23-carat edible gold. For the first time in India, a restaurant in Vizag is ready to serve this mouth-watering biryani variety in a couple of days.

It may be recalled that the news of most expensive biryani, covered in 23-carat edible leaves, had hit the headlines last year when a restaurant in Dubai introduced ‘gold biryani’ at 20,000 a plate.

Along the same lines, a restaurant in Lawson’s Bay Colony in port city is now set to serve 2 kg biryani on a silver plate priced at 1,500. It is beautifully arranged with boiled eggs, cashew nuts with aromatic basmati rice, and dum chicken cooked using home-made spices and garnished with edible gold.

“The saffron rice in the plate, topped with boneless pieces of spicy chicken and fried eggs served in the pure silverware, comes with vegetable salad. We also serve a variety of curries and riatha,” one of the owners, Rajasekhar Reddy, told TOI.

The biryani is sufficient for three people and should be ordered a day in advance.

The owner of the restaurant, Bhagyarka Sinha, travelled to 50 countries in 5 continents to taste different cuisines and dishes including edible gold biryani.
