An incident involving a Vistara airline flight en route to Germany unfolded on Friday, resulting in a forced landing in Turkey due to a bomb threat. The flight, identified as UK27, was traveling from Mumbai to Frankfurt with a total of 247 passengers and crew members on board. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Erzurum airport, located in eastern Turkey, as confirmed by Governor Mustafa Ciftci to the state-run Anadolu Agency.
Upon landing, all passengers were promptly evacuated from the plane, and authorities initiated a thorough search of the luggage on board, Governor Ciftci reported. The decision to divert the flight was made after a passenger allegedly made a bomb threat once the aircraft entered Turkish airspace, according to information provided by HaberTurk television.
As a precautionary measure, the airspace over Erzurum was temporarily closed by authorities. The safety and security of all individuals involved were of utmost importance, leading to the necessary steps being taken to address the situation effectively. Vistara, in a statement released on the X media platform, confirmed that the diversion to Erzurum airport was a result of security concerns and reassured that the landing was executed safely.
